Part one of the UK - Pakistan exchange has taken place and the six Pakistani students have left the UK leaving us incredibly impressed by their talent and dedication.

HSBC Offscreen Expedition 2010

HSBC Bank Middle East Limited in partnership with Offscreen and the British Council has offered the opportunity of a lifetime to 6 gifted and talented students from Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar for Offscreen's Expedition to the UK.

Dana, Jasmin, Fahad, Jena, Reem and Sarah embarked on a 14 day tour of the UK, making artwork in response to their surroundings as well as being interviewed by the BBC !

Expeditions 2010: UK - Pakistan

Scaling up Offscreen's successful student exchange programme for 2010, the Expeditions will push boundaries between the UK and Pakistan as creative and dynamic youngsters will visit and experience each other's countries on month-long journeys. The Pakistani students have just finished their visit to the UK, creating travelogues which document their impressions in order to encourage peer-to-peer education and create inspirational resources for youth worldwide. Check out all fourteen days of their time in the UK here.

Ahmed Mater Solo Show

Prognosis Art is pleased to present Ahmed Mater's solo show Prognosis, opening at the Vinyl Factory Gallery London from 12 - 31st October 2010. Compelled by a brave, conceptual imagination, Mater has developed a unique and powerful artistic voice which has brought him to the forefront of Saudi‘s emerging contemporary arts scene. Ahmed Mater Book

We are currently working with Edward Booth-Clibborn and Dr Ahmed Mater to produce the artists first visual arts book, to be launched at Mater's solo exhibition Prognosis this October in London.

The book has been designed by One Darnley Road with contributions from Venetia Porter (British Museum), Tim Mackintosh Smith, Ahmed Al-Omran (Saudi Jeans) and Catherine David.

Crossway Foundation

The Crossway Foundation represents Offscreen's vision to create the UK’s first dedicated UK-Middle East arts and education centre in East London.

Working with the Prince's Regeneration Trust and a group of like-minded social entrepreneurs, artists and teachers, the Foundation's vision is to create both a physical headquarters for the expansion of existing activities and a separate charitable home for the delivery of new, collaborative initiatives.

Abdulnasser Gharem in Dubai

Saudi artist, and Edge of Arabia co-founder, Abdulnasser Gharem recently had a series of acclaimed exhibitions, media events and participations in Dubai.

These included a solo show at the XVA Gallery, participation with galerie Caprice Horn at Art Dubai, a book launch at Virgin Megastores and a discussion about his work at the Bidoun Art Park in MKadinat Jumeira.

Classroom Media Player

Over the past three years Offscreen have collaborated with Digital Explorer and One Darnley Road to develop an inivative educational resource called the Classroom Media Player.

The Media Player allows teachers to design lessons based on films, photos from our projects. Our first Media Player was produced last year with the support of HSBC, the Said Foundation and the British Council and is currently being used in classrooms in UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Lebanon.

Offscreen Expedition 2010: Day 1

Check out all fourteen videos documenting the two week journey of a lifetime that a select number of creatively talented students had across the UK.

These students, hailing from the Middle East and wider Islamic World, spent their time between London, Yorkshire, Bradford, Leeds and Birmingham, making a visual travelogue of their experiences in the UK.
