Arabia Offscreen is a global competition to find a young dynamic team to take part in a creative and cultural expedition to Saudi Arabia in December 2011. Supported as part of HSBC's Arabian Journeys programme, a team of 10 young people has now been selected and used their time in Saudi Arabia to create an artistic portrait of the Kingdom to be shared with youth audiences from around the world.

Between May - August 2011, an international competition in the UK, Egypt, Qatar, UAE and Malaysia will identify ten young artists, photographers, film makers, musicians and writers with the potential to inspire their peers.
In December 2011, these ten winners travelled to Saudi Arabia to creatively explore what life is really like in the Kingdom. With unparalleled access to sites, cities and the creative community, the young team broadcast their experiences and communicated their encounters through Offscreen Expeditions’ award winning website. Their record of the journey, in blogs, films, photographs and artwork will form the basis of an educational resource aiming to shed light on a country which remains stereotyped and undiscovered, in order to promote tolerance and peer-to-peer learning.
Inspired by a collaboration with the British Museum, the material produced throughout the expedition will contribute to a wider educational programme focussing on the theme of pilgrimage and Hajj, to be delivered in schools and local communities across the UK in 2012.
