British Museum Artists-in-Schools

Bishop Veysey’s Grammar School, Birmingham

As part of a collaboration between the British Museum and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, British-Iraqi artist, Athier Mousawi worked with a group of Year 7 students on a project exploring Arab world motifs within ‘artworks of the imagination’. During the project students drew inspiration from Birmingham City Museum & art Gallery exhibits alongside a range of Arab and Islamic imagery including calligraphy, geometric shapes and photos of Iraqi people. The resulting artworks show a connection between the student’s imaginations and the world of the artist.
