Word into Art - Dubai
British Museum
In January, Offscreen joined forces with Start (another Middle East arts education NGO) to create an Education Programme around the British Museum's Word into Art exhibition as it travelled to Dubai. The project involved the production of a Schools Resource Pack and a series of artists workshops for Dubai schools.
Offscreen founder, Stephen Stapleton, travelled to Dubai to launch the initiative during a two day seminar and series of workshops aimed at engaging local teachers and students in the exhibition ... not an easy task given that most Secondary Schools do not even have art as an official subject.
The project was sponsored by Dubai Holding.
